Denver Arts Events June 8-14
Every time I sit down to compile this list, I truly feel excited about all of the boundary-pushing arts events we get to enjoy in our town that is, let’s face it, better known for outdoor (and indoor) sports affections. If I could enjoy seven shows, performances, events, or exhibitions this week, this is what I’d do. Enjoy.

✺ June 12 Get up on stage and test out your new work at Denver Art Society’s monthly open mic night. 7 p.m.More info.
✺ Starting June 12 It’s Bleak Week at Sie Film Center. View Sie’s selection of accomplished, yet deflating, films for this year’s eventhere.
✺ Starting June 12 If you’re ready to start that novel that’s been sitting in the back of your head, check out Lit Fest at Lighthouse Writers Workshop for readings, craft workshops, events, and more.More info and registration.
✺ June 13 & 14 There are not one, but two opportunities to attend a spicy adult book fair this week, and I think that is pretty awesome. June 13 Smutty Scholastic Book Fair at Dry Clean Only. 5 p.m. More info. June 14 Book Fair for Adults 2: The Spicening at New Terrain. 11 a.m. More info.
✺ Through June 28 Watch Phamaly Theatre Company perform an accessible production of Tony-nominatedViolet at Aurora Fox Theatre. More info and tickets.
✺ Through August 30 Spend time with the work of dozens of artists that exemplifies the modern West at Mountain Standard Time, a summer group exhibition at Visions West Contemporary.More info.
