Denver Arts Events May 18-24

From high-profile comedians to emerging local artists, there’s something for everyone on the calendar this week. If I could enjoy five shows, performances, or exhibitions this week, this is what I’d do. Enjoy.

✺ All week It’s grad season, which means the Newman Center is hosting open-to-the-public student recitals all week, and you can catch emerging artists before they become household names. More info.

✺ May 18 Take a (first class free!) intermediate Jazz Funk class with Boulder Dance Crew at Boulder Ballet. 7:30 p.m. More info.

✺ May 23 Enjoy live sets by five bands and watch as their music videos are shot at Black Sparrow Presents Sound & Screen at Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox. 8 p.m.More info and tickets.

✺ May 23 Celebrate the release of local author Lyndsie Clark’s new cyberpunk novel, Anamnesis, at Fiction Beer Company. 3 p.m. More info.

✺ Through June 27 View Judd Schiffman’s whimsical ceramic work in his exhibition Ask the Dust at David B. Smith Gallery.More info.
