Denver Arts Events September 14-20

I got a little excited this week and compiled the longest weekly list ever. There are just so many opportunities—many of them free—to experience exceptional local art this week. If I could enjoy eight shows, performances, events, or exhibitions this week, this is what I’d do. Enjoy.

✺ September 15 Enjoy a free concert by CU Boulder College of Music faculty and students at REMIX: Please Silence Your Expectations. Grusin Music Hall in Boulder. 7:30 p.m. More info.

✺ September 17 Join Joe Pickett and Nick Prueher in what they call a “VHS revival” at the Found Footage Festival at Sie Film Center. 7 p.m. More info and tickets.

✺ September 18 Catch award-winning Borrowing Funny written by Denver local and Second City alum, Matt Wexler, at Vintage Theatre. 7:30 p.m. More info and tickets.

✺ September 19 Attend an artist talk with Klaire Lockheart, and view her exhibition Brodalisques, a series of snarky oil paintings challenging gender stereotypes. William Havu Gallery. 12 p.m. More info.

✺ September 19 Relish in readings from an accomplished lineup of local poets in Khadijah Queen & Friends. Counterpath. 7 p.m. More info.

✺ September 19 If you’ve been cooking up some indie songs in the garage, bring them to Indie Music Mic, a booked mic night, at Node Arts Collective in Westminster. 7 p.m. More info and registration.

✺ September 19 Check out the next wave of Denver musicians at the Youth on Record Festival outside Youth on Record. 1 p.m. More info and registration.

✺ Through October 11 View Linda Bishara’s whimsical, mythological ceramic sculptures at her exhibit, Sanctum Amaru at Understudy. More info.
